Ah ye scallywag, so ye want te hear the tale eh the famous Calico Jack Rackham dae ye!

For real though, we are very much based on this famous Pirate Captain.

  • Jack Rackham was an active pirate from 1718 - 1720. He was known for a few things. Mainly the Calico clothing that he wore, but also for his cunning and wit. In a time when most captains were blood thirsty killers, Jack was more strategic in his approach to piracy. He was one of the only known captains to allow women on his ship (Anne Bonny and Mary Reid) at a time when it was considered bad luck. Jack was also famous for inventing the iconic skull and crossed swords symbol (the swords representing Anne & Mary) known as the Jolly Rodger. Jack thought outside the box and invented a design so powerful, it’s known worldwide as a symbol of pirates to this day. Jack later married Anne, and when Jack was eventually hung for piracy Anne said the famous quote "If he'd fought like a man, he needn't be hanged like a dog" Anne escaped execution as she was pregnant at the time. What became of her remains a mystery to this day.

  • β€œThat’s cool and all, but why a clothing line based on that?”

Jack stood out from the crowd. He approached piracy in a new way and used his brain over brute strength. Rakkem aims to do the same thing. We don’t want to be like other clothing lines, contributing to landfill, doing the same bull everyone else does. So we have come up with our own ideas, we are eco friendly and believe things should be repaired not replaced. We want to be like Jack by being inclusive when so many companies aren’t. And we want to express ourselves showing our true colours.

We are starting small, but have a huge goal at the end. Something that no clothing line has done before. We are but a small crew. It’s gunna be an uphill battle to achieve our goal. And once we do. It’s gunna be revolutionary! Savvy!

  • We do our part to be sustainable and eco friendly. That’s why each of our original items are sourced from a sustainable supplier whom we can trust.

Our original shirts are made from 100% certified organic cotton or a blend of 60% certified organic cotton and 40% recycled polyester which comes from recycled plastic bottles.

We will always cater for all body shapes, offering sizes from extra small all the way to 5 and 6 times extra large.

We want to inspire women to feel like the badasses they are, and men to be able to show feelings without being judged. That’s why we have a few side projects on the go that you will stumble across on our website. Exciting times.

Our core values will always be to be as sustainable as we can, to be all inclusive, to repair and re-use instead of replace... and to say β€œF**k you” to those who don’t agree with that.
